I joined my father in Delhi having flown alone to Delhi. On 26th morning,I joined the other students who were invited by the Government of India. Together the 70 of us were taken to the Parade site at 8.30am. We were seated very near the President’s podium and several senior Ministers were seated near us. The President of India Smt. Pratibha Patil arrived soon after. The Chief Guest of the 60th Republic Day was Kazakhstan President Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev. Defence Minister Mr.A.K.Antony executed all the conventional duties of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh since Mr. Singh was convalescing. The live cannon firing during the National Anthem of India and to be able to stand and sing the National Anthem there was the best part of the Republic Day Parade for me. I was also impressed by the Flypast of the Air Force jets. The tableaux from the different states was fantastic.”
He acknowledges that the Govt of India had arranged for his travel from Mumbai to Delhi but since he moved to Singapore he wasn’t sure about his trip. Luckily for him GIIS arranged for the trip and encouraged him to see the parade of his dreams.
